CONTEMPORARY'S TRUSTEES LOOKING AT WAYS TO BOOST REVENUE

- By JOSHUA HARTLEY

Fall in funding 'biggest risk' to gallery's future

NOTTINGHAM’S most prominent gallery has acknowledged it is ‘at risk’ as funding cuts and inflation threaten its future prospects.

The Nottingham Contemporary fears the potential reduction in funding from Arts Council England and Nottingham City Council is the “most significant risk” it faces.

Extending its exhibition seasons and holding additional fund-raising events is among the options it is considering to boost revenue

The gallery, which opened in 2009, has submitted its financial accounts for the year up to March 31, 2024.

In the report, trustees note the decrease in real terms funding provided to the venue and the challenging situation faced by cash-strapped donors such has the city council.
