Event aims to bring shoppers back to flagging city boulevard

A GROUP of 14 businesses have come together to host an event in a bid to boost flagging footfall in part of the city.

The shops in Castle Boulevard claim that Nottingham City Council's changes to roads in the inner city have contributed to a fall in passing trade, which they say started in 2019.

Over the past six years, they say they have seen a 70 per cent drop in foot traffic, which has put a significant dent in profits and have also had to contend with the rise in national insurance contributions, and wage increases.

The “Retail Summer” event will be hosted on Saturday, July 26, and aims to put their businesses back on the map after recent struggles.

It has been organised and funded by Helen Najuk, director of Zoo Interiors & Outdoor Living, who hopes to show the people of Nottingham what they are missing out on.
