Dad crashed Mercedes into traffic lights after drinking at pal's house

A FATHER of four crashed his Mercedes into traffic lights while two-and-a-half times over the drink drive limit.

Nottingham Magistrates' Court heard James Rajah "was going through a difficult divorce" and had suffered a bereavement when he chose to get behind the wheel of his car after downing wine with a friend.

As he drove down the street, the 52-year-old collided with the traffic lights and his airbag went off.

After being taken to the hospital to be checked over, a blood sample was analysed and found him to be well over the limit and he was later charged.
