SONIA PRAISES CARE AFTER SHE HAD TO BE 'STITCHED TOGETHER LIKE A RAGDOLL'
Sonia Meakin saying her goodbyes to staff members at Linden Lodge, City Hospital before finally going home.
(JOSEPH RAYNOR)
AFTER 146 days in hospital, 19 operations, and the loss of her husband, a miracle car crash survivor has returned home.
Sonia Meakin was in the passenger seat when her husband had a heart attack while driving their car on the M1 in Nottinghamshire, on Friday, July 11.
The 56-year-old midwife woke up from her coma two weeks later in hospital, and that's when she heard the news that her husband, Mark Meakin, had died in the crash.
Sonia, from Spondon in Derby, described feeling like a “ragdoll that had been stitched back together” after she suffered a broken fibula, tibia, both her elbows and wrists in the incident, as well as sustaining wounds to her stomach, spleen and diaphragm.
