CONFETTI CUTBACKS LEAVE LEVEL ONE AND TWO YOUNGSTERS WITH NOWHERE TO GO

Courses axed too late for city students to find new places

NOTTINGHAM’S Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies is cutting courses, leaving students claiming that the future of music education at the college could be in jeopardy.

One student has started a petition to “save the music students” as some believe they may not be able for enrol on a second year at the college to complete their education.

Confetti specialises in creative courses such as music production, gaming, performance and media studies. It is a partner of Nottingham Trent University and Creative Access College, which provides funding and validates its courses.

Students were told last week of the decision to cease level one and two courses, meaning that they have few options for alternative provision of music courses.

While university courses are not affected by the proposed changes, level one and two foundation courses are at risk.

These courses are for people who may not have the requirements to join university-level courses or those who wish to seek an alternative to mainstream college education.

They often provide a base for spe-cialist subjects such as music and media production, which can be continued on level three courses at Confetti.
