Jack Lewis Elshaw and Chelsea Scott Owens, who now live in Grimsby, pleaded guilty to two offences after failing to meet the needs of JJ, a male Doberman, in a case brought by the RSPCA.
The pair failed to adequately investigate and address his weight loss and poor body condition, or provide adequate professional veterinary care for his eye condition.
Both were disqualified from owning all animals for 10 years, which they cannot appeal against for five years.
Elshaw was sentenced to a two-year community order including 140 hours’ unpaid work and must attend 20 rehabilitation activity days.
Owens was sentenced to an 18-month community order including 15 rehabilitation activity days and must pay a £120 fine.

Sight of feasting otter is a sign of healthy fish stocks
THE return of otters from near extinction is a true conservation success story, so I find the level of ire directed towards them after we recently shared a couple of video clips of an otter at Attenborough Nature Reserve rather disheartening.
