A NEW estate of more than 100 homes has been reluctantly approved for a Nottinghamshire village, prompting concerns over its stretched infrastructure.

On Tuesday, November 11, councillors at Ashfield District Council approved developer MyPad’s outline planning application for 104 homes off Mill Lane, in Huthwaite.

Full planning permission has yet to be granted as there are some conditions which need to be agreed first, but the step marks significant progress for the project.

The scheme, which MyPad says will be 100 per cent affordable housing, was recommended for rejection by council planners, who argued its single access road would create traffic problems and opposed the “unjustified loss” of trees and hedgerows.
