Council is moving to a 'commercial model' for events

CHANGE WILL SAVE CITY £100K OVER THE NEXT TWO YEARS

NOTTINGHAM City Council has been unable to guarantee that events such as the Riverside Festival will return as it moves to a more "commercial model" of running events.

The Labour-run authority has confirmed that one of the plans for its budget during the next financial year, starting in April, will be a "transition" in its events team.

The council says the team will move to a "commercial model, being cost-neutral or revenue-generating".

The city council says the shift will save it £50,000 next year and £50,000 the year after that.

But Councillor Ethan Radford, the authority's deputy leader, pledged: "You're not going to see fewer events.
