ANIMAL BELONGS TO TRAVELLERS

- By GEORGE PALMER-SOADY

CONCERNS have been raised after a horse was left tethered on a busy roundabout for days.

Charities and councillors have spoken out about the “worrying” sight of the animal tied in the middle of a roundabout just off the A46, near Bingham.

The horse was first seen on Sunday and a number of concerned drivers have contacted the Post since.

Conservative Councillor Debbie Soloman, who represents Newton ward on Rushcliffe Borough Council, said the animal belongs to Travellers who had set up on nearby land. “I have been very much aware of this as concerns have been raised to me by a number of Newton residents,” she said.

“I believe the horse was well tethered and so would not have come to any harm.

“As of Tuesday, the horse and some Travellers were still near the roundabout but the majority have now moved on”.
