Company sought to run new distribution centre

A KEY step has been taken on a major £30 million project near the M1 which could help to create 1,000 jobs in Nottinghamshire.

The target date for completion of the distribution and manufacturing hub is now 2027, rather than early next year, as originally planned.

But Ashfield District Council has confirmed the project is progressing again as the process of finding a company to run the centre has begun.

Work began on the Kirkby-in-Ashfield site earlier this summer to lay the groundwork for the building’s construction.

The 3,000sq m site, near junction 28 of the M1 and close to Sutton Parkway Station, will become a “centre of excellence for automation.”
