Company set to take on three libraries had eyes on a fourth

THE company set to take over three of Nottingham City Council's libraries has confirmed it was interested in taking over another.

The Labour-run authority has held firm and said it will keep control of the Radford-Lenton library, despite the council being under “immense pressure” to make savings in its library service.
As part of efforts to save £1.5 million from the library service, previous plans would have seen the council close its Aspley, Basford, Bilborough and Radford-Lenton sites. It eventually backtracked on those plans and announced in January that the Aspley, Basford and Bilborough libraries would be run by the voluntary sector.
