Aviation security officer is still living the high life at 76

A VETERAN member of East Midlands Airport staff says colleagues are taking bets on when he will leave after more than 40 years of service.

Aviation security officer Tony Hall, 76, began his career at the airport in its former private police station.

The private police force only had authority on the site and ran for 15 years of Mr Hall's career before the civilian police moved in when passenger figures increased to one million a year.

He started in 1983 at the age of 35 and says he has no intention of leaving.

Speaking as the airport celebrates 60 years of operation, Mr Hall said: "I do more or less 10 hours a week now, unless they're really pushed and then I can do more, but 10 hours a week is good enough for me. The staff are taking bets on when I leave.
