Attackers who left 'shells' of victims face long jail terms

TWO men who carried out city-centre attacks in the early hours, leaving their two victims "shells of their former selves" have been found guilty.

Following a trial at Nottingham Crown Court, a jury unanimously found Deepak Kumar guilty of two counts of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm with intent and his co-defendant Shaan Tanner guilty of one count of the same charge.

Immediately after the forewoman of the jury delivered the verdicts, a woman in the public gallery broke down in tears and said “I want my son, I want my son” before addressing the remark “I curse you all” to the seven men and five women, causing Judge Stuart Rafferty KC to shout: “Don’t you say that. How dare you. Leave the courtroom now.”
