Asylum seekers 'sleeping on floor' at block of flats

PICTURES have been shared of the living conditions in a block of flats where around 300 asylum seekers have been housed.

The source - who asked to remain anonymous - said there was broken furniture, mouldy food in fridges and mattresses with visible holes inside Burrows Court in Sneinton.

They said that asylum seekers are still living in around 127 flats in the high-rise building.

"We were told the company had to cut corners, so they stopped ordering new furniture", the source - a member of staff at the flats - explained.

"Elderly people and children had to sleep in broken beds, which worsened their health conditions. Some people opted to sleep on the floor because their beds were in such a bad state"

They also said that the place was frequently affected by silverfish and bedbugs, and even though pest control had been called, the outbreak had "gone too far".
