"SIGNIFICANT" spending of more than £50 million is to be invested on updating housing in one part of Nottinghamshire.

- By LAUREN MONAGHAN Local democracy reporter

Broxtowe Borough Council revealed the investment at a full council meeting to pass its budget for the 2026/27 financial year and give a projection of funds over the next three years. Members approved a 2.94 per cent increase in council tax for 2026/27, a 4.8 per cent rise in council rent and the withdrawal of funds from its general reserves to help maintain a balanced budget.

The authority is also to provide a "significant investment" into its housing stock - totalling more than £53 million.
