Wreford and Guscott stand firm and guide Nomansland to victory over North Devon
North Devon Journal
|June 12, 2025
LAST-wicket pair Ashley Wreford, and Nick Guscott steered Nomansland to a one-wicket win over North Devon in Division One of the Blights Motors North Devon League.
North Devon, who were asked to bat first, were quickly reduced to 14 for six, thanks to the bowling skills of Elliot Cole (3-2).
Skipper James Tyson (42) led the North Devon recover. He had support from Freddie Horrocks, who contributed nine. When 13 extras were added in, the visitors totalled 72 all out. Jacob Cole took two for four at the end of the innings.
Nomansland's reply started badly as Jools Hughes (4-1) performed the hat-trick by bowling Will White, Will Hughes and Xavier Warmbrunn one after the other to render them one for three at the end of the first over.
Nik Ollis took two for 16, and Oscar Meech two for 25 as the home side's problems deepened.
Nomansland opener William Martin made 12 and there was a minor recovery led by Greg Cole (13) and Jacob Cole (11). However, at 49 for nine North Devon were favourites.
