New indoor pool for dogs opens to set tails wagging

Devon Dog Pool in Bideford is designed to cater to all dog types, and offers exclusive one on one swim sessions in a heated pool without the stress of meeting other dogs.

The service offers 30-minute sessions for up to two dogs per booking priced at £35, with the additional cost of £5 per extra dog. Heather Matthews, one of the owners, assures that no two dogs will cross paths - a feature that is ideal for reactive or anxious dogs.

"Every session is run with the assumption that the dog may be reactive. No two dogs ever meet," said the 31-year-old, who co-founded the pool with her mum Jac Matthews, 61, and Tina Haigh, 40.

Devon Dog Pool also supplies life jackets for the dogs to give them that extra burst of confidence. The dog's owners are welcome (and encouraged) to swim with their dogs, but they have staff support for those who'd rather stay dry.
