Father’s world record attempt in lakes

A FATHER is attempting to become the first person to swim the 10 largest lakes in Switzerland after his young son was struck by a devastating brain condition that turned his life upside down overnight.

Neil Gilson, a 40-year-old father of three from Ilfracombe, is tackling the gruelling Legend of the Lakes challenge - a 369km endurance feat spread over two years - to raise awareness and funds for children affected by paediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcal infections (Pandas) and paediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome (Pans).
