Fall in recruitment ʻan opportunity for South West firms'

HIRING conditions across the South of England continued to weaken at the start of the second quarter, according to the latest Report on Jobs: South of England from accountants KPMG and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC UK).

Recruiters who were surveyed indicated that both permanent appointments and temporary billings fell at the fastest rates since January, while demand for staff declined at a steeper pace.

The report, compiled by S&P Global, indicates that a reduction in recruitment activity and redundancies drove the sharpest upturns in both permanent and temporary candidate numbers since last August.
