Better access to trail would boost tourism

IF Bideford wants to boost its number of tourists, access to the Tarka Trail needs to be easier, a local councillor has claimed.

Councillor David Brenton told a meeting of Torridge District Council that there is a shortage of parking at East-the-Water for cyclists and walkers to access the popular trail along the River Torridge.

He said the situation would get worse when new apartment blocks are built as part of the £30 million Brunswick Wharf redevelopment as there would be more pressure on parking from residents.
