Jane Street Group has hired lobbyists for the first time in 20 years, even as an investigation ordered by India’s market regulator, the Securities and Exchange Board of India, in July is, according to people familiar with the probe, looking into the additional trading strategies that Jane Street used, including allegedly manipulating the country’s biggest index to make money with an options strategy commonly known as a “short straddle”.
