The case may shape India's AI regulation, copyright issues

- Krishna Yadav

The Delhi High Court said on Tuesday that it will begin detailed hearings on 21 February to address the copyright infringement lawsuit filed by ANI Media, a New Delhi-based media company, against OpenAI, the San Francisco-based artificial intelligence research organization.

It marks the first copyright dispute involving OpenAI in India, with ANI accusing it of using its copyrighted content to train large language models (LLMs), including the widely used ChatGPT. Subsequent hearings have been scheduled for 11 and 18 March.
