Attack occurs near room of his 4-year-old son, Jeh, while Khan's wife Kareena and elder son Taimur were also at home

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, 54, was brutally attacked in his Bandra high-rise early Thursday morning when an intruder stabbed him multiple times inside his 12th-floor apartment. The shocking incident, which occurred around 2:30 am, left the celebrated actor with six stab wounds, including one dangerously close to his spine. Khan is now recovering after an emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital, doctors confirmed.
The attack, which occurred near the room of Khan's four-year-old son Jeh, has raised serious concerns about the security of high-profile celebrities in India's financial and entertainment capital.
According to the police, the intruder did not force entry into the apartment but is suspected to have sneaked in unnoticed, possibly with the intention of robbery.
Jeh’s nanny, Eliyama Philip, who was the first to confront the armed man, recounted the terrifying sequence of events.
“I woke up to a sound and saw a thin, short man moving toward Jeh’s bed. Panicked, I rushed to pick him up, but the man pushed me away. He was armed with a wooden stick and a Hexa blade,” Philip said in her statement to the police.
The assailant allegedly demanded Rs 1 crore, warning Philip not to raise an alarm. “He pointed the blade at me and said, ‘Koi awaz nahin’ (Don’t make any noise). When I tried to stop him, he slashed my wrist,” she added.
