Jimmy Carter, 39th US Prez, dies at 100

Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, passed away peacefully at his home in Plains, Georgia, on Sunday, surrounded by his family.

He was 100 years old, the longest-lived President in US history.

"Today, America and the world lost an extraordinary leader, statesman, and humanitarian," President Joe Biden said in a statement, lauding Carter's decades of service to humanity and his unwavering dedication to peace, civil rights, and global welfare.

Carter is survived by his children—Jack, Chip, Jeff, and Amy—along with 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Rosalynn, and one grandchild. Reflecting on his father's legacy, Chip Carter said, "My father was a hero, not only to me but to everyone who believes in peace, human rights, and unselfish love."
