ED arrests Al Falah chairman for money laundering

The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday arrested Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, chairman of the Al Falah group, following coordinated searches across Delhi NCR targeting the trustees and promoters of Faridabad-based Al Falah University, which has emerged in investigations linked to the November 10 Red Fort area car blast, officials said.

Siddiqui was taken into custody under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and is being presented before a court for remand. The searches, which began around 5:15 am, covered 19 locations, and investigators seized Rs 48 lakh in cash. The action followed the filing of a PMLA case based on two FIRS registered by the Delhi Police, the officials said.
