Tatak Pinoy to boost local manufacturing

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) expects the recently launched Tatak Pinoy Strategy (TPS), the government's 10-year national industrial roadmap, to make domestic manufacturing and local products globally competitive.

Under Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 104 signed last week, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. approved the rollout of TPS, as authorized by Republic Act (RA) No. 11981 or Tatak Pinoy Act.

Tatak Pinoy Act, enacted in February last year, mandates the implementation of a multiyear strategy that will outline the government's plan to empower domestic manufacturers to compete in the global market and produce diverse and sophisticated products.

TPS will be developed by TP Council, which was established under the same law.

The DTI, which heads TP Council, said TPS was formulated through an evidence-based process in coordination with government agencies, the business sector, research institutions, and other key stakeholders.
