PH must move on from politicking and start building forward

Every very well-meaning Filipino should support the recent call of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. for all newly sworn-in officials to move beyond politics and focus on nation-building.

- TECH4GOOD FORMER DICT UNDERSECRETARY MON B. IBRAHIM

The 2025 national elections are behind us, and the political dust, one might assume, should have settled. Yet, as we approach mid-2025, a disquieting trend is already emerging: the premature drumbeat of the 2028 elections, accompanied by the familiar, divisive symphony of "demolition jobs" against prominent political personalities. This preemptive politicking, rather than fostering national unity and progress, threatens to derail our collective efforts toward genuine nation-building. It is as if our national clock runs not in years, but in election cycles-each one overlapping the next in a relentless loop of power struggles.

We are witnessing precious airtime, social media feeds, and public discourse increasingly being consumed by narratives designed to tarnish reputations, sow discord, and position individuals for the next electoral cycle. This is not just a waste of time; it is a profound misallocation of national energy and focus. Every moment spent dissecting these narratives is a moment not spent strategizing on job creation, debating innovative solutions for climate change, or crafting policies to uplift the most vulnerable.
