Marikina gov't to implement no parking rule on main roads

Marikina City Mayor Maan Teodoro on Monday, Aug. 4, announced that the city government will start to enforce a no parking rule on its main roads as part of its efforts in alleviating traffic congestion in the city.
Teodoro made the statement following the joint meeting between the Metro Manila Council (MMC), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Aug. 1 which tackled different issues in Metro Manila, particularly traffic and severe flooding.
During the meeting, the DILG proposed prohibiting parking on all public streets between 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Meanwhile, MMDA Chairman Don Artes suggested implementing the parking ban on all public streets, aligned with the MMDA’s expanded number coding scheme, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
