Marcos OKs AI roadmap

President Marcos has greenlit a sweeping public-private partnership aimed at equipping Filipinos with the skills needed to thrive in an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven world, with plans to fast-track training programs, align education with emerging technologies, and expand student immersion in real work environments.

The initiative was presented to the President during a meeting with the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC)-Jobs and Education Sector in Malacañan on Wednesday, June 25, where PSAC laid out its flagship National AI Upskilling Roadmap.

According to Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro, the initiative will help expand AI literacy nationwide and prepare young Filipinos for the demands of an increasingly AI-powered global economy.

"The AI upskilling initiative will help expand AI literacy in the country," she said.

Castro said the roadmap will help build AI systems to prepare employees for an AI-powered future.
