LTO official ordered to explain use of agency patrol car as escort

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has asked one of its officials in Central Luzon to explain why he should not be punished for using an agency's patrol vehicle as car escort along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Pampanga.
In the Show Cause Order (SCO) signed by LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao, the incident stemmed from a viral video showing a vehicle with red plate being escorted by an LTO patrol car.

Rev up growth engine despite latest GDP growth decline
The latest reading from the Philippine economy serves as a cautionary note. In the third quarter the pace of growth has flagged. According to official data, the Philippine real GDP grew by 4.0 percent year-on-year in Q3 2025 — the slowest expansion in more than four years, down from 5.5 percent in Q2. On a quarter-on-quarter, seasonally-adjusted basis, it expanded only 0.4 percent, below forecasts of 0.8 per cent.
