Expect rains over parts of PH on New Year

The shear line, northeast monsoon or “amihan,” and the easterlies are expected to bring rains, isolated thunderstorms, and gusty winds over parts of the country during the New Year celebration from Dec. 31 to Jan. 1, 2026, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

In its Special Weather Outlook for New Year 2026, the state weather bureau said that on Wednesday, Dec. 31, the shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Quezon and Camarines Norte.

PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will prevail over Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon due to the amihan.
