EU EOM launches first EU election observation mission in PH

European Parliament member and European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) to the Philippines chief observer Marta Temido led the EU EOM official launch on April 25 at a press conference in Manila, concluding a five-day first visit to the country.

The deployment of the EU EOM to observe the mid-term elections on May 12, 2025 follows an invitation from the government of the Republic of the Philippines.

“This will be the first deployment of an EU Election Observation Mission in the country, marking an important step toward stronger EU-Philippines relations. Our presence aims to contribute to an inclusive, transparent, and credible election process without interfering or validating its results,” said Temido.

"During my visit, I received a warm welcome from the Filipino people, as did the core team based in Manila and our 72 long-term observers who have been deployed all over the country," Temido added.
