Albay town launches car-free Sunday program

The municipal government of Daraga has announced the temporary closure of Duterte Highway from Barangays Binitayan to Cullat to make way for joggers, cyclists, and fitness enthusiasts during the “Lakaw-Pidal Daraga: A Car-Free Sunday” starting on Sunday, Aug. 31, and will run weekly from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m.
Public and private vehicles will be barred from using the stretch of road during the three-hour window, said Mayor Victor Perete.
Perete said the program aims to promote a healthy lifestyle while offering residents a safe and scenic place to exercise with the iconic Mayon Volcano as a backdrop.
