There are some seriously enormous creatures in the animal kingdom. JULES HOWARD, author of new book Mega, tells us all about the planet's biggest beasts.
What's the biggest animal in the sea?
Weighing 20 times more than Tyrannosaurus rex, with a length of 30 or more metres, it's the blue whale.
The award for longest sea creature goes to the weird, jellyfish-like siphonophore, which can reach lengths of 120 metres or more. It looks like a rope made of snot.
Are there any big animals hiding that no one has discovered yet?
Some large sea creatures, such as the five-metre long megamouth shark, were only discovered relatively recently, so new discoveries do happen.
