Win sees seconds move up to fourth

MACC Seconds travelled to Bramhall looking to make amends for last week's batting collapse and loss against Didsbury.

- BY JON CURWEN

Skipper Adam Longshaw won the toss and elected to field first.

Opening bowlers Ben Farmer and Ben Curwen looked threatening from the off and the Bramhall batsmen rode their luck as an early slip catch was dropped.

The miss didn’t cost Macc though as Shoesmith was bowled by Farmer soon after for 3.

Bramhall’s skipper Kannah was starting to show some good form and hit Farmer for 2 consecutive boundaries before being bowled as a ball took off from a length and was chopped onto the stumps.

This was the first sign of uneven bounce which would get more pronounced throughout the match.

Not long after Kannah's dismissal, Reynolds attempted a suicidal run and Barney Cutbill threw the ball into keeper Eddie Bones to complete the run out leaving Bramhall on 33-3.

The opening bowlers Farmer (5-0-26-2) and Curwen (7-3-8-0) finished their spells and were replaced by Cutbill and Sam Hughes who maintained the pressure during along bowling partnership.
