MP Roca reveals why he cast vote for benefits bill

MP has spoken out to detail why he voted for the controversial Universal Credit and Personal Independent Payment Bill.

In a Parliamentary vote on what was seen as a ‘watered-down’ version of the welfare Bill, the government won by 335 votes to 260.

It followed two sets of changes, first the reversal of some cuts to Universal Credit and protecting Personal Independence Payments (Pip) from stricter eligibility rules.

Then before the vote on Tuesday, July 1, the decision that PIP rules would not be changed until the conclusions of an ongoing review were considered.
