Macc preparing to hit ground running
Macclesfield Express
|June 04, 2025
MACCLESFIELD boss Robbie Savage has put together a pre-season programme designed to help his newly-promoted side hit the ground running in National League North.
Savage is well aware the game's sixth tier will provide a tough test as the Silkmen go up against the likes of Kidderminster, Chester and Fylde.
But it's a challenge he's desperately looking forward to and one he believes Macc will be more than ready for.
"It's going to be a test for me, it's going to be a test for some of our players who haven't played that level," he said.
"We're absolutely delighted with the squad, you never switch off as a manager but I'll have a nice break with my family, rest, recover for what's going to be ahead, a season with more games, long journeys but something that we're going to embrace.
"The National League North is a really tough league, some huge football clubs. When we take to the field next year against some clubs, it'll be like a League Two game, so it will be brilliant to see Macclesfield back up in the National League system.
"It's important that we hit the ground running and that's why, when you look at the pre-season schedule it's not been together without thought. It's been meticulous in the way we've put it together in terms of what we want from pre-season.
