Dad became a 'shell of who he was'

Family say sub-postmaster was victim of alleged Post Office IT scandal

THE family of a sub-postmaster 'destroyed' after being accused of theft and fraud believe he was a victim of a second alleged Post Office IT scandal.

Father-of-four Peter Lloyd-Holt was sacked in 1994 after accounts at his branch in Bolton showed unexpected shortfalls. He was interviewed by police and although he was never prosecuted, he lost his job and had to pay back a 'considerable' sum of money.

The accusation had a devastating effect on Mr Lloyd-Holt, who always maintained his innocence, but died aged 75 in 2021 without clearing his name.
