Insanity of dismantling a nation from within

DOWN at the Rabid Rabbit they were having their monthly quiz.
Having successfully avoided the ubiquitous “pub quiz” for the duration of my life, I never did find out who came second in the men's pole vault in the 1952 Olympics.
But I came across a good boring question for a quiz: What have the following got in common - Catalonia, Taiwan, Scotland, Palestine and Kurdistan?
The pub quiz answer book suggests they are all regions which have sought greater self-determination or independence.
That is admirable. Yet when people in a country make a case for less democracy, political representation and ability to manage its own affairs, that's as mad as a fruitcake.
