A 23-YEAR-OLD who drowned off the coast of Merseyside has been remembered by his family in a touching tribute.

- By EMILY CARUBIA ECHO Correspondent

Haydn Griffiths, from Lowton, was reported missing after going swimming in the River Mersey on July 19 2022 - one of the hottest days of the year.

His body was found by an RNLI crew in the water near Crosby five days later.

Haydn was an accomplished swimmer, who had been selected to train with the GB sailing team.

His sisters, Megan and Brogan Griffiths, are now campaigning to raise awareness around open water safety.

They have made it their mission to prevent other families going through the same loss, working with the RNLI to educate people about the dangers of the water through fundraising and by launching their own water safety campaign: Stay Safe for Haydn.
