Smiles better for Myles after Reds' Christmas present

A YOUNGSTER who's faced a series of health challenges is to be given a special Christmas surprise from his beloved Liverpool FC.

Before last Easter, Myles Benson from Aintree had been the picture of health as he enjoyed playing sport and going to watch the Reds at Anfield with his dad David. However, after complaining of a sore knee during a trip to Whitby in the school holidays with his family, the nine-year-old’s health gradually began to take a turn for the worse.

After they returned home, Myles’ mum, Zena, took him to Ormskirk hospital where an X-ray found there was “nothing there’, before a further visit saw him diagnosed with a common growing-related disease in the knee.

As time passed and his health began to worsen, things eventually came to a head during his school sports day when Zena said he “could hardly run and then the whole of the right hand side of his body had dropped.”
