Setback for Stringer as Giles fight called off

Frankie Stringer has suffered a huge setback after his fight with Levi Giles was called off late on Thursday night.

The unbeaten Stringer (pictured) had been expected to make his long-awaited return to the ring at the First Direct Arena in Leeds tonight. However, his fight with Giles was called off after an issue which requires further investigation was identified at his pre-fight medical examination.

Confirming the news on Thursday night, Stringer said: "Absolutely gutted my fight this Saturday is off. My first fight on a main card, live on the BBC, what a camp I've had. I was in the best shape of my life. Months of hard training, sacrifice and dieting all out of my control.

"If you've bought tickets, please drop me a message. I'll be back early next year with new fight news."
