More green buses after £7m boost

Mayor Steve Rotheram

DOZENS more green buses will hit the roads of the Liverpool City Region after a multi-million pound government investment.

Weeks after it was confirmed the first 100 publicly-owned fleet of vehicles had been taken delivery of, the Department for Transport has confirmed it will award more than £7m to the combined authority for 36 more zero-emission buses.

The government is investing £73m as part of its existing Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas (ZEBRA) project. The majority of a new £10.5m pot is being awarded to our region to replace older diesel vehicles.
