Has Pier pressure paid off?

HOLIDAYMAKERS used to flock to Southport. They loved its attractions, its ambience and its famous pier - over half a mile long and only bettered by Southend. It was revitalised 25 years ago in an early example of crowdfunding and the subscribers got their names on the planks.

I enjoyed walking down the Pier and playing the oldest slot machines in the UK. It took me back to when I was 10 years old and played those very same machines. My granny told me that I mustn’t go near “What The Butler Saw”.
