'Dangerous' rapist's vile attack on girl, 19

A SECURITY guard offered a student a lift home after a night out but instead drove her to a secluded location and raped her in his van.

John Callaway loitered in the city centre in his vehicle before preying upon his victim when she became separated from her friends.

A court heard the attack, while the victim was barely conscious, left her “wishing that her life had ended”.

A judge branded Callaway, who has a young son, “a very dangerous man, particularly to young, lone women”.

A trial at Liverpool Crown Court heard the 19-year-old woman was on a night out in Liverpool city centre in March 2023 and found herself alone at the junction of Seel Street and Slater Street.
