DEPUTY PM AND CHANCELLOR VOW PLAN WILL 'UNLOCK OPPORTUNITY'
THE government has said Liverpool will benefit as part of a plan to build thousands of new social and affordable homes through a £2 billion investment.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves and Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner announced the major plan, which they say will deliver 18,000 new social and affordable homes across the country. Under the plans, thousands of new affordable homes will start construction by March 2027 and will be completed by the end of this Parliament.
The government says the £2 billion investment boost comes as a 'down payment' from the Treasury ahead of more long-term investment in social and affordable housing later this year.
