IN the first round of the National Arena North West League, Halton - newly promoted to the Premier Division - travelled to Macclesfield with Sophie Barr taking first place in the 100m freestyle and second place in the 100m butterfly.
Anthony Wawrzyniak finished second in both the 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke.
In Division 1 at Darwen, City of Liverpool stormed to victory, taking 24 first places. Hoylake finished just one point ahead of Garston, for whom Ben Stephenson, Joseph Yu and Naya Phillips scored maximum points.
Southport took the long trip to Kendal where they claimed first place, edging out a strong Carnforth team by two points.
Bebington took the short trip to Ellesmere Port in Division 2, and a spirited performance saw them take fifth place.
