Park group working with CHAS

Sensory garden project in works

An organisation dedicated to regenerating Balloch Park has been working with children's charity CHAS to develop a sensory garden for sick kids.

Balloch Castle Country Park Regeneration Group was formed in 2022 to restore nature within the park, rejuvenate the national tree collection and provide facilities for visitors.

A survey of park users and local businesses shows that there are 1.2 million visitors each year as well as 300,000 dogs.

So far the group, which wants to make the park self sustainable for future generations, has been working with CHAS (Children's Hospices Across Scotland) to develop a sensory area in the walled garden for children at the Robin House Hospice in Balloch.

A deputation on the aims of the regeneration project was heard by members of the Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development (IRED) committee on Wednesday.
