Fears over further moorland blazes
Lennox Herald
|May 20, 2025
Concerns more wildfires could spread across the Kilpatrick Hills or other areas of West Dunbartonshire were raised by a local councillor.
Scottish Fire and Rescue was asked by Clydebank Waterfront councillor Lauren Oxley what steps people can take if they discover a wildfire as the warm weather Scotland has been experiencing continued into last weekend.
It comes following recent reports of large areas of grass on fire near Pappert Hill in Bonhill and a blaze on the moorland involving heather and grass between the Kilpatrick Hills and Stockiemuir Road in Milngavie.
Councillor Oxley said: "I want to say thank you to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland for responding to a couple of incidents across my ward in the last couple of months such as the wildfires we have had up at the Kilpatrick Hills.
