Successor to Cifuentes is the new Boro boss

MARTI Cifuentes’ Hammarby successor Kim Hellberg has followed him to the Championship by taking the reins at Middlesbrough, writes Jordan Blackwell.

The 37-year-old Swede fills the vacancy left by Rob Edwards, who moved to Wolves earlier this month.

Hellberg will hope to keep up second-placed Boro's fine start to the season and take them back to the Premier League.

He arrives in the Championship after two seasons with Hammarby in which he twice finished second in the Swedish top flight.

Hellberg took over at Hammarby after Leicester City boss Cifuentes earned a move to QPR in 2023.

Cifuentes had finished third and then seventh in the Allsvenskan.
